The Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) research centre of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Justice and Home Affairs Section at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) are organizing a Lunchtime Briefing on ‘Data Protection, Borders and Criminal Justice’ within the framework of INEX Project (Converging and conflicting ethical values in the internal/external security continuum in Europe), a Research Project funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the DG Enterprise of the European Commission. Enclosed you may find the latest version of the programme.

This lunchtime briefing will be the second in a series of five, taking place in Brussels at the CEPS (Place du Congrès, 1 – 1000 Brussels) on the 29th June 2010 from 12.00 – 15.00h, and it will aim at linking the results of the early stages of the project with policymaking processes. The events’ purpose is to allow an open discussion on the conceptual and empirical research on social and cultural dimensions of security in Europe, linking analyses of law and technology with current discussions on borders, mobility and fundamental rights.
